PRACTICE OVERVIEW
Dog Bites
In April 2025, New York’s Court of Appeals made a significant change to its dog bite law.
Previously, dog owners were only strictly liable if they knew their dog had “vicious propensities.” Now, victims can pursue negligence claims, broadening the scope of liability for pet owners. This removes a long-standing 20 year old legal hurdle, allowing victims to seek justice more effectively.
This is a major change in the law and we are here to help. If you were bitten by a dog on someone’s property, give us a call to discuss your case.
